As a double-board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Amir Tahernia has excelled in many ways. He is one of the rare cosmetic surgeons who can incorporate both scientific precision and an artistic vision into his work. Originally from New York, he completed his undergraduate studies at UCLA, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa for academic excellence. After graduating from medical school at NYU with honors in Surgery, he completed a total of 7 years of training in General Surgery, including dedicated research in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with multiple national presentations and publications.
After completing the elite 3-year Plastic Surgery Fellowship program at Duke University Medical Center, one of the consistently top-ranked programs in the country, he trained with leaders in the field of both aesthetic and complex reconstructive surgery. He furthered his knowledge by also completing an Advanced Training program in Hand and Microsurgery at the highly regarded Kleinert Hand and Microsurgery Institute.
Dr. Tahernia holds dual board certification as a Diplomate of both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery and is an attending physician educator in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s Division of Plastic Surgery.
He is known for his friendly, patient-focused manner, as he designs each patient’s individualized surgical plan with utmost consideration for patient safety, accuracy and natural outcomes. His interests outside of being a physician include family time and playing tennis.
