Dr. A. Charlotta La Via is a board-certified plastic surgeon and has extensive training and experience in reconstructive as well as aesthetic surgery. She was born in Sweden but spent her early life in West Africa before moving to Northern California. Her international upbringing instilled in her an appreciation for art and culture, which she continued by learning the Spanish art history and Spanish literature in Barcelona before attending the University of California, Berkeley. There, she double majored in integrative biology and molecular and cell biology. She also took classes in several languages, including French, Italian, and Swedish literature.
Dr. La Via received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of California, Irvine, in the top ten percent of her class and was invited into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society. She completed her general surgery residency at the University of South Florida, where she was given the Outstanding Intern Award, and further received specialized education in plastic and reconstructive surgery from the University of Southern California.
Since opening her own practice in 2003, Dr. La Via has had a commitment to one-on-one patient care with a focus on aesthetic surgery, reconstructive breast surgery, and body contouring, including post–massive weight loss surgery.
