Biography

Dr. Barry Stuart Handler, MD, has 28 years of experience as a board-certified plastic surgeon in San Diego, California. He is affiliated with several hospitals in the area including the Alvarado Hospital Medical Center, Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns, Sharp Memorial Hospital, Scripps Mercy Hospital, and Scripps Memorial Hospital-La Jolla. His areas of expertise include facial plastic surgery and reconstruction, aesthetic surgery, breast reconstruction, breast surgery, and head and neck oncology.

Dr. Handler graduated from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 1989 with a medical degree. He did a surgical internship in between 1989 and 1990 and then completed the integrated plastic surgery residency at SSM Health/Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 1997. He holds a California medical license and is American Board of Plastic Surgery Certified. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

In addition to practicing surgery, Dr. Handler also speaks several languages including Spanish. His medical training and practice cover reconstructive and cosmetic surgery including breast and complex head and neck reconstruction.
