About Anshu Gupta, MD

Dr. Anshu Gupta, the founder and director of Verve Plastic Surgery, is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon. Dr. Gupta combines an artistic vision with advanced surgical expertise and has been practicing for over 18 years. He has a reputation for being compassionate and committed to helping patients achieve natural-looking and aesthetically pleasing results, with a focus on long-term satisfaction.

Dr. Gupta graduated from one of the premier medical colleges in India and has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed medical journals regarding his award-winning research on cancer gene therapy performed in San Diego. His residency in general surgery was completed at the Kern Medical Center, a teaching hospital affiliated with UCSD, where he gained considerable experience in treating patients with complex anatomical problems and performing complex reconstructive procedures. He then completed his plastic surgery residency at Indiana University and went on to complete additional training at the Mayo Clinic, specializing in aesthetic surgery and advanced cancer reconstruction.

Dr. Gupta’s credentials as a board-certified general surgeon and board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon allow him to understand how the elements of form, function, and safety affect patients during every procedure he performs. His initial specialty was treating patients with facial injuries due to trauma, hand injuries, and patients undergoing reconstruction due to a diagnosis of cancer. This initial experience continues to guide Dr. Gupta’s focus and meticulousness today in the aesthetic aspects of reconstructive surgery.

Outside of his practice, Dr. Gupta is committed to giving back. He is a volunteer who has provided pro bono reconstructive surgery for victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault.
